The FreshTrack service provides consumer sales information sourced from Grocery stores' point-of-sale scanning data on products such as Fresh Meat, Produce, Deli, Bakery and more.
FreshTrack is a unique service as it tracks products that are sold at varying weights for the same item. The FreshTrack codes are individually identified as they are transmitted to Nielsen and linked to a common internal code in order to bring all transactions together to produce the consumer sales information.
The current service captures Deli Meats and Cheeses, Fresh Meats and Produce (fruits and vegetables) and Bakery.
Each category is broken down to the product type or classification available from the retail chains e.g., T Bone Steak, Medium Cheddar, Black Forest Ham, Cortland Apples, Russet Potatoes, etc. and reports consumer sales movement in both tonnage and dollars, together with average retail price.
The information is available every four weeks and is grouped into weekly or four weekly increments. In addition to regional reporting, account level information is also available.
